"All programmers are optimists. Perhaps this modern sorcery especially attracts those who believe in happy endings and fairy godmothers. Perhaps the hundreds of nitty frustrations drive away all except those who habitually focus on the end goal. Perhaps it is merely that computers are young, programmers are younger, and the young are always optimists. But however the selection process works, the result is indisputable: 'This time it will surely run' or 'I just found the last bug"
So another trait is Unquenchable Optimism

Nice read. will love to add this quote though<br

I disagree about using too many words though. I used my writing style to express my opinion, you might think it is too long, but I think it is just right, there is no right or wrong way with this, it is all up to personal preference. That's my opinion :).

@Samir Mishra I am pretty sure I mentioned caffeine in there somewhere :). I disagree about using too many words though. In my opinion this article calls for a rewrite and using few bullet points that will simplify the whole paradigm of being a good developer. Also you forgot to mention that Good developers love Caffeine, Coke and Junk food :)

I heard what you say, but I guess you used too many words to say what you actually wanted to say.

In my opinion this article calls for a rewrite and using few bullet points that will simplify the whole paradigm of being a good developer. That explains the reason that we 1000's of web apps written as Database table wrappers. The programmer is avoiding looking at the domain, creating a design that effectively reflects the existing requirements while being flexible in dealing with the future changes. The number one trait that I see in in effective programmers is the ability to organize their thoughts to solve the problem at hand in the most straitforward manner. This is very similar to the skills required to write a good paragraph.

Sorry to disagree with your first point, but I think that creativity is underrepresented in most programmers; most developers write the same code over and over again without thinking creatively at all.
